1 Egg, 5 Sheets of Paper, + 10 Straws

Physics students braved the fog and rain for the 43rd annual Egg Drop Contest. Boys were charged with building an encasement for a raw egg—using only 5 sheets of paper, ten straws, tape, and hours and hours, according to the students, of creative thinking—that would protect the egg from the 6-story drop off Frist Terrace on Marriott Hall. Science teachers Will Segal ’00 and Bryan Taylor took to the roof to launch the eggs while faculty emeritus Dr. Bob Morse, originator of the Egg Drop Contest, helped students monitor the results from below.
