Chorale

Founded as a school for choristers at Washington National Cathedral, St. Albans maintains a rich choral program, with students of all ages singing throughout the year in chapel, in the Cathedral, in the Washington area, and beyond. In recent years, St. Albans boys have sung on the stage of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, at Carnegie Hall, and for the National Tree Lighting. Groups have also traveled as far as Australia and South Africa to perform.

Instrumental Music

Instrumental musicians from St. Albans and National Cathedral School join together to create the Lower School Orchestra (Grades 4-6), the Middle School Orchestra (Forms Grades 7-8), and the Upper School Orchestra (Grades 9-12).

The orchestras are primarily performance-based; the goal is for students to learn music, and learn about music, in the pursuit of performances held throughout the year. Highlights of the year include the Fall and Spring Music Festivals and performances at the beautiful Lessons and Carols service—all held in Washington National Cathedral.

Dance

The Dance Program at St. Albans and National Cathedral School is one of the area’s largest and most developed school programs. More than one hundred students attend classes in modern, hip-hop, jazz, repertory, world dance, yoga, and Pilates. The annual Dance Gala features dance projects choreographed by students, faculty and guest artists.
Located in Washington D.C., St. Albans School is a private, all boys day and boarding school. For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12. While our students reach exceptional academic goals and exhibit first-rate athletic and artistic achievements, as an Episcopal school we place equal emphasis upon moral and spiritual education.
