College Counseling

Offering Support Throughout the College Process

From a student's first PSAT to the first college acceptance letter, our college counseling office is here to support and empower students through the anxieties, questions, and strategies of the college process.

Beginning in the winter of the junior year, our college office works directly with students and their families to ensure that the college search and application process is what it needs to be: organized, reflective, thoughtful, focused and driven by, and centered around the student.

The College Office

In an age in which admissions statistics and application "strategies" make national news headlines, anxiety unnecessarily dominates this age-old process of applying to college. We in the College Office have worked in college admissions for many years, and what we have learned is that it all works out. For more than 20 years, Ms. Magaziner Mills has worked with U.S. and international students seeking admission to universities in America, England, Scotland, Canada, Japan, Spain, Australia and elsewhere; for the four years prior to that, as a college admissions officer, she read and reviewed thousands of applications and essays. Mr. Hudson also began his career as a college admissions officer and has since worked with hundreds of students in college counseling at independent schools. Along with Ms. Linda Stratton, who brings decades of work in independent schools, they are each student's strongest supporters, devil's advocates, and personal red-tape artists. The office strives to find for each student the college or university that represents the perfect match.

Located in Washington D.C., St. Albans School is a private, all boys day and boarding school. For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12. While our students reach exceptional academic goals and exhibit first-rate athletic and artistic achievements, as an Episcopal school we place equal emphasis upon moral and spiritual education.
