The Arts Program at St. Albans

Energetic voices singing in chapel, tear-jerking performances on stage, and paint-splattered canvases attest to the enthusiasm St. Albans boys bring to the arts. In a supportive, single-sex environment, students feel emboldened to discover and develop their particular talents through participating in an array of creative opportunities.

Peter Kelley, Upper School Academic Dean

Visitors to our chapel services often exclaim, ‘The boys — they actually sing!’ And they do. I think being an all-boys school helps.

  • Backstage

Multiple times a year, Trapier Theater is transformed into anything from a winter wonderland to outer space for one of the many Upper and Lower School plays and musicals.
  • Colorful Energy

Art classes explode with creativity from the first time a Lower Schooler walks into Ms. Lombardo’s classroom. Her theory of “colorful energy” radiates from students’ bright creations.
  • In the Cathedral

Chorale students fill the nave of the Washington National Cathedral with beautiful harmonies in music festivals and ceremonies throughout the year.
  • Make Your Music

Whether it be in Ms. Moore’s music classes, Mr. Wood’s orchestra, a Christmas House Tour home, or a Trapier Theater pit band, musicians have the opportunity to showcase and develop their talents beginning in C Form.

Located in Washington D.C., St. Albans School is a private, all boys day and boarding school. For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12. While our students reach exceptional academic goals and exhibit first-rate athletic and artistic achievements, as an Episcopal school we place equal emphasis upon moral and spiritual education.
