Frederick '22 Drafted to MLS

Wayne Frederick ’22, an All-American, All-Met, and All-Conference selection as a soccer player at St. Albans, was drafted second overall in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids.

Frederick, a 6’0’’ midfielder and defender at Duke University, has been nothing short of outstanding for the Blue Devils in his two year tenure. As a freshman, he made an impact starting 8 games and making 19 appearances. He earned a spot in the Top Drawer Soccer’s Postseason Freshman Top-100 in 2022. He started all 17 games in 2023 as a versatile player in the midfield, contributing three goals and three assists.

Hailing from Cabin John, Maryland, Frederick left a significant impact on the St. Albans soccer program during his tenure. Head Coach Brian Schultz described Frederick’s draft selection as “an incredible accomplishment for Wayne and his family. His success is a result of his talent, work ethic, and passion coming together extraordinarily well. We are so proud of him and look forward to seeing what he does at the next level. This moment is well-deserved for Wayne.”

Frederick was a leader on the St. Albans 2021 DCSAA championship-winning team, building a foundation for the 2023 Bulldogs to capture both an IAC and DCSAA title this season.

The St. Albans community extends our deepest congratulations to Wayne and his family on this incredible honor.
