Spring Athletics Championship Season

It’s championship season yet again on the Close as St. Albans looks to add to our ever-growing collection of DCSAA and IAC banners. Check out these upcoming matches.

Baseball
The #1-seeded team in the DCSAA tournament and reigning state champions, the baseball team looks to ride the momentum from Tuesday’s quarterfinal no-hitter and 7-0 victory into today’s matchup with Maret. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 at St. Albans this afternoon. The championship is held on Sunday at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy at 4:30 pm.

Crew
The team already won the prestigious Foley Cup, taking down Gonzaga earlier this spring. The rowing Dogs are currently traveling to the Stotesbury Regatta, their final test ahead of the Scholastic Rowing Nationals in New Jersey to wrap up their season.

Golf
Golf will look to repeat their DC state championship next Tuesday at Langston Golf Course. Following an impressive showing at the IAC tournament, the team beat Episcopal in a 9-stroke playoff to earn a bid to the prestigious Metro Championship. The team hopes to cap off the strong finish to its season with a banner!

Tennis
The Zia brothers, Cameron ’24 and Cyrus ’25, are competing in the DCSAA singles and doubles tournament this year, looking to repeat the team’s championship from last year and add to the squad’s IAC banner that was picked up last week. Cyrus has made the singles championship, and the sibling duo has made the doubles championship. All matches will be completed today.

Track and Field
Track and field finished in a strong second place in the IAC championship and looks to build on that success in the DCSAA meet kicking off next week. Details have yet to be announced for their tournament.
