The Mid-Atlantic Episcopal School Association, familiarly known as MAESA, honored C Form teacher Tim Brockway with its Stewardship Award this October. Brockway, who has taught in the Lower School for 38 years, was recognized for keeping his students connected to the wider Episcopal school community by taking them to the MAESA Cathedral Service each fall and by giving generously of his time to the annual MAESA fair, where students share their gifts for spelling, tech, geography, art, and other subjects. In announcing the award, the MAESA leadership quoted Brockway’s colleague, the Rev. Leslie Chadwick: “Tim’s care for the entire community fuels his work. He cares about each student’s spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social development. One of the most peaceful moments of the day for me is listening to Tim read aloud to his students. He chooses books that address issues of overcoming adversity and of treating all people with respect. Without being preachy, he ties in choices that the students make each day into discussions of those books.”
Congratulations, Mr. Brockway!
Mr. Brockway’s class joined students from Episcopal schools across the D.C.in the National Cathedral on Tuesday for MAESA’s Episcopal Schools Celebration Service on Tuesday. This year’s theme was “Let your light shine.”
