Robotics Team Heads to Worlds

It has begun to feel like a weekly event. Head Prefect Wesley Solomon ’24 rings the bell in the Cafritz Refectory to signal the start of announcements, a line begins to queue at the microphone, and members of the robotics team precariously balance armfuls of trophies as they scurry up to present to Headmaster Robinson from their most recent competition.

When members from the robotics team recently made yet another trip to the microphone during lunch to announce their victories at the DC championships, they carried four massive trophies — a clean sweep of every award possible at the event.

It’s difficult to overstate the quality of this year’s team. Head Coach Mr. Doug Errett believes that this could be the greatest single season in St. Albans robotics history. The team, known as “343” and divided into four competitive, motivated subteams , has collectively competed in 9 tournaments (with 2 more pending), with ten total appearances in tournament finals and racking up six tournament championships.

Team 343X has logged a notably stellar season, claiming four tournament championships and 3 appearances in tournament finals, including two at prestigious signature events. 343X also earned a bid to the U.S. Open Invitationals, and three teams (343B, 343K, and 343X) will compete at the World Championships in late April in Dallas, TX.  

A remarkable and unprecedented season for St. Albans robotics that has left Mr. Robinson’s trophy shelf overflowing. Go Robodogs!
