Additional Round of Fall Awards Announced

A new round of awards for fall athletes were announced last week. The DCSAA announced ten honorees for fall sport performance, in addition to Gatorade recognizing a St. Albans runner. 

For the fourth consecutive year, a St. Albans cross-country runner has received Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Following in the fleet footsteps of two-time honoree Pierre Attiogbe '23 and Damian Hackett '22, Sebi Hume '25 is the recipient of this year's recognition.

Hume was the outright winner of the DCSAA state championship this season, posting a 15:45.5 finish. Along with William Strong '25, Hume was the co-champion of the IAC this season, leading the Bulldogs to their 14th-straight IAC championship. Breaking the tape at the most important races of the season marked just two of his five victories this season.

This season, Hume set a personal-best time of 15:25.0 in the highly competitive Milestat.com Invitational.

Rich Gonzalez of PrepCalTrack, a leader in cross-country coverage, told Gatorade:

“Winning half of his races this season—often against leading talent across state lines—Sebi Hume asserted his superiority against District foes while furthering his experience curve in the bigger picture. I look for him to emerge into a regional force in his senior year.”

In announcing their all-state awards, the DCSAA added yet another trophy to Hume's collection, recognizing him as the state's Runner of the Year. Nine additional St. Albans players and coaches received All-State team recognition.
