Winter Sports Race Towards Championships

It is hard to believe that we’re less than a month away from spring sports kicking off. Before we get there, there is plenty of unfinished work to be done for our winter Bulldogs. This week marks the start of championship season, as the Swim & Dive team prepares to host the IAC Championship this Friday. It also is Landon week for both Hockey and Basketball, setting the table for an exciting week of competition for the Dogs.

Basketball (11-4, 1-2 in IAC)
Coming off a championship in the Palm Beaches Invitational over winter break, St. Albans has maintained strong form in 2024. Boasting a 4-2 record, the Bulldogs have been led by a trio of scorers in Jaylen Mills, Kahu Treacher, and Grant Polk. It’s a big week for the Bulldogs, as they face off against Landon at 7:30 PM in Martin Gymnasium on Friday night for a massive showdown.

Hockey (4-7, 1-1 in IAC)
The Bulldogs put together a phenomenal showing against St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes, defeating the Saints 6-1 and giving the Ice Dogs a boost heading into an exciting matchup against Landon on Friday night at 6:10 at the Rockville Ice Rink. In case you missed it, read about the Bulldogs who were named to the MAPHL All-Star game here.

Swimming and Diving
Trophy season is upon us as Swim & Dive hosts the IAC Championship on Friday. It will also be the first competition of 2024 for the aquatics squad, as they have spent the past few weeks training hard for their meet. The Bulldogs will next be home for their Senior Day meet on February 6th vs. Sidwell.

Voyageur (2-2)
Carrying a .500 record, Voyageur has just two matchups remaining on the season. The climbing team will take on Episcopal in a final tuneup next Tuesday, before heading to the All-WAICL championships on February 4th. It is certain to be a thrilling matchup for the Bulldogs.

Wrestling
Wrestling returns to on-campus action for the first time in 2024 with the Upper School Wrestling Quad on Friday, taking place in the Activities Gym. Followed by a basketball matchup against Landon, take the evening to cheer on your Bulldogs on the wrestling mat and then head downstairs to root for the Dogs on the hardcourt!
