Six Receive All-Met Fall Honors

Six Bulldogs were honored by the Washington Post with 2023 All-Met selections. Of the six, only two selections were seniors, an indication of the depth of talent across fall sports programs.

Cross Country:
Sebi Hume ’25 was named the Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Per the Post, “Hume was dominant all year and stood out with wins at the Maryland XC Invitational, Interstate Athletic Conference championship and D.C. State Athletic Association championship. Alongside All-Met second-team pick William Strong, Hume led the Bulldogs to a second-place finish at the MileStat XC Invitational. He capped the year with a 15:27 5K at Nike Cross Regionals Southeast in Cary, N.C.”

Along with Hume, his classmate William Strong ’25 was selected as a Second Team honoree. Strong and Hume were co-champions of the IAC, crossing the finish line together. The two have a strong relationship on the course and will look to lead the squad again next year.

Soccer:
Four Bulldogs were honored by the Post, led by two senior First Team selections: Charlie Irwin ’24 and Jack Sabel ’24. Irwin, described by the Post as “an engine in the midfield,” and Sabel as a “well-respected presence in the IAC,” led the Bulldogs to a trifecta of championships: IAC regular season, IAC tournament, and DCSAA tournament.

Sabel and Irwin were joined by defender Chris Bates ’25 and goalkeeper William Eastright ’26, who were recognized as Honorable Mentions.

Congratulations to these six student athletes on their phenomenal seasons — and to their teammates and coaches whose hard work and dedication is also reflected in these honorees.
