The St. Albans Swim Club 2010 - 2011

The St. Albans Swim Club has served the Washington community since 1961. A Swim Club membership includes use of the beautiful indoor Joseph J. Lawrence Pool, located on the St. Albans School campus beside the Washington National Cathedral, near the intersection of Garfield Street and Massachusetts Avenue. The Lawrence Pool is an attractive, fully tiled, six-lane, twenty-five yard, indoor facility in a bright and comfortable surrounding. Pool water and room temperature is maintained at 82°F.
The St. Albans Swim Club gives members and their guests use of the Lawrence Pool seven days a week, eleven months of the year, including all holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Easter. Memberships may be purchased by the month or for the entire season, which runs from October 4, 2010, to September 5, 2011.
The St. Albans Swim Club is directed by Aquatics Director Robert J. Green, who is entering his thirtieth season at St. Albans. He also the head coach of the St. Albans and National Cathedral School varsity swim teams, Mr. Green has taught countless adults and children to swim over the years.
All visitors to St. Albans School's Swim Club should park on Pilgrim Road or in the Cathedral parking garage, and avoid parking on neighborhood streets. All visitors should use the Garage’s main entrance off Wisconsin Ave., which is located at the Wisconsin Ave. traffic light near Hearst Hall. Visitors should not use the Woodley Road entrance to the Garage. Thank you for your cooperation.

Swim LessonsWorking under American Red Cross guidelines, these classes provide fun opportunities for fitness, water safety, and recreational swimming for all ages, including adults. Classes are open to the public. Swim Club membership is not required.

Open to all ages. Eight (8) class minimum scheduled for (4) Saturdays & (4) Sundays (recommended); or you may register for (8) Saturdays only; or (8) Sundays only.

Lifeguard TrainingThe St. Albans Swim Program offers the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course (32 hours). Enrollees must be at least 15 years of age and be able to pass a water-skills screening test on the first day of class. Participants must attend all classes in order to receive the following certifications: (1) CPR/AED (2) Lifeguarding & First Aid.

Pool PoliciesFor safety reasons, the pool may be closed on snow days (D.C. public schools closing policy) or during electrical thunderstorms or other severe weather. Please check our voice mail message at 202-537-6462 before coming to the pool. The ladder assisted lanes #1 and #6 will be reserved for children, handicapped persons, and nonswimmers. Guests must be accompanied by a member. The guest fee per visit is $10.
The St. Albans Swim Program reserves the right to cancel any class with fewer than three participants in attendance. St. Albans encourages all visitors to consider alternatives to driving to the School. Visitors who drive to St. Albans are encouraged to park in the parking garage entered from Wisconsin Avenue, directly in front of Washington National Cathedral.
